2025 Audi Q5 SQ5 Sportback Debut in Europe

The 2025 Audi Q5 & SQ5 Sportback have made their debut for the European market. The Q5 Sportback has always been about design over utility, and this new generation is no exception. The most obvious change from the standard Q5 is the new sloping roofline, the shape of which recalls that on the newly revealed A5. This new roofline gives Sportback models a sleeker look compared to standard Q5 models, making it ideal for those looking for a bit more sport over utility in their premium crossover. The front of the 2025 Audi Q5 Sportback features a more aggressive version of the standard Q5's visage, including a sportier bumper with more pronounced air intakes. The brand's now trademark user-configurable headlights are accounted for here as well. Q5 Sportbacks get dual rectangular tailpipes, while SQ5 models get a more aggressive quad tailpipe arrangement. Even though it features a new dramatically arching roofline, the 2025 Q5 Sportback retains a respectable amount of utility, including 18.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which is just two cubic feet less than the standard model. The 2025 Audi Q5 Sportback will be built on the brand's Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) that also underpins the standard Q5 and the new A5. This platform is an evolution of the MLB Evo platform. Inside, the 2025 Audi Q5 Sportback features a virtually identical interior to the standard Q5. This means plenty of screens, including an 11.9-inch digital driver's display, a 14.5-inch central infotainment touchscreen, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. These displays will run a new Android Automotive-based operating system. The interior will feature a host of new eco-conscious materials, such as Cascade fabric and Dinamica microfiber, as well as adjustable ambient lighting and plenty of luxurious design details. Motivation for the new 2025 Audi Q5 Sportback will come by way of either a 2.0 TFSI gasoline-powered engine or a 2.0 TDI diesel. Both engines arrive with a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup, and both produce 201 hp. The diesel arrangement features more torque than its gas-powered counterpart, making 295 lb-ft compared to the gas model's 251 lb-ft. FWD will be standard, with Quattro AWD available as an option. It's important to note that these powertrains have been announced for the European market, and US models will likely skip the diesel altogether. Audi says a PHEV version will arrive at some point in the future as well, which has a better chance of making it to the US. The sportier SQ5 Sportback will feature a turbocharged 3.0-lt V6, again with a mild-hybrid setup. This powertrain will produce 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque and will come standard with AWD and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Performance numbers such as 0-60 times have yet to be released. Though this reveal is only official for the European market, Audi has announced that the Q5 and SQ5 Sportback will make their way to the US market as a 2026 model year vehicle and should launch shortly after the standard Q5 does. We'll learn more about US-specific models, including their pricing, sometime next year. The post 2025 Audi Q5 & SQ5 Sportback Debut in Europe appeared first on The Torque Report .
