This 1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible represents the height of 1960s American luxury
— an unmolested survivor that spent over 40 years with its original owner before joining
my collection. Showing just around 40,000 original miles, this Continental remains one of
the most authentic and meticulously restored examples in existence.
Finished in Tuxedo Black with a white convertible top, this car defines sophistication.
Following its acquisition, it underwent a careful four-year restoration, performed primarily
in-house by a team with over 50 years of experience specializing in Ford and Lincoln
automobiles. Only select outside specialists — such as painters and upholsterers —
contributed to the process, while nearly all mechanical, assembly, and detailing work was
completed by our own team, who take pride in restoring these cars the right way.
The interior was fully restored to exact factory specifications, using the correct leather and
vinyl materials in their original factory placements. The door panels remain completely
original, preserving their factory craftsmanship. To perfect their appearance, we sourced
new old stock (NOS) factory wood-grain inserts, the exact type originally used by Lincoln in1966, and carefully installed them into the existing panels. Every grain, stitch, and finish
was matched to factory standards, recreating the look and feel of the car as it appeared
when new.
Every element of this restoration received meticulous attention:
- All chrome was removed and professionally replated,
- Every piece of stainless trim was hand-polished to a mirror finish,
- The engine compartment and undercarriage were carefully detailed and refinished, and
- All gaskets, seals, and finishes were restored to correct factory appearance.
Under the hood, every clamp, hose, and component was restored or replaced with correct-style parts to match factory specifications. The battery and related hardware were properly sourced to replicate the car’s as-delivered appearance, giving the engine bay a true factory-fresh presentation. The factory air conditioning system remains original to the car, properly serviced with the correct Freon, and continues to operate smoothly — adding both comfort and authenticity without distracting from the car’s originality.
